We know this is a stressful time, we hope that our resources are able to bring some comfort in this unstable time. We are experiencing this together!
Access to legal aid is crucial for a fair and just society. Its imperative that everyone, regardless of income or background, have access to understand and exercise their legal rights; however, that is not the case for many Americans. Many individuals face complex legal issues such as housing, family, or employment disputes, without the means to afford representation. Without legal aid, justice becomes inaccessible for the most vulnerable, leading to unequal outcomes. Providing legal support helps uphold the rule of law and promotes equity, dignity, and fairness in our communities.
Unfortunately, we do not have the most robust set up for our legal system, which requires that anyone who wants to seek legal justice, be wealthy &(/or) have societal access. Additionally our police system does not actively try to stop injustices, or prosecute them unless they are monetarily worth their endeavor. Therefore, many of our corporations, employers, law enforcement, & general people, feel comfortable breaking societal decorum and the law when interacting with those they have power over. We know that this can also extend to lawyers, doctors, big pharma, and so much more.
So how do we handle this injustice in our society, constricting & holding us in place to be manipulated and harmed- we learn about our rights and begin documentation. It is not news, that any constitutional rights we thought we had have been continously destroyed and ignored completely. None of the people abused by this system have the resources or the ability to go after the source of the problem, alone. However, the more we can come together, document, and share the unlawful treatment, we will be able to directly respond to lack of community values in this way.
All that to say, there are very few legal aid resources available on such a wide ranging topic. If you are able to find resources that you believe should be added to this page feel free to fill out our comments section or email us at thisisactivism2023@gmail.com.
